Sergeant Eddie Murray died from illnesses caused by inhaling toxic materials while partaking in the rescue and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Sergeant Murray was a United States Marine Corps vetran and served with the New York City Police Department for 15 years, assigned to Transit District 3.
You walked into it and it took years to finish the job.
Sergeant Murray gave the New York City Police Department 25 years.
Thank you for your service to the New York community. Gone but never to be forgotten.
