Their life
Died four days after he and two other officers were shot in a terrorist ambush in Coolavokig, near Ballyvourney, County Cork. His commanding officer, Major James Seafield-Grant MC, died during the attack and Constable Arthur William Cane died the following day.
Born on 18th August 1881 in Southsea Hampshire, Temporary Cadet Soady was the youngest son of Major Thomas Soady of the 66th Regiment. He served in the RNR, discharging in 1919, and thereafter joining the Royal Irish Constabulary Auxiliary Division in October 1920. He was posted to J Company in Macroom.
