badge.nw↗Bureau Chief Charles Mills was killed in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks while attempting to rescue the victims trapped in the World Trade Center.
Chief Mills had served in law enforcement for 40 years. Before serving with the Office of Tax Enforcement, he had served with the New York City Transit Police Department, Schenectady Police Department, and the Troy Police Department.
You went in while everyone else was coming out.
Bureau Chief Mills gave the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance 40 years.
Thank you for your service to the Albany community. Gone but never to be forgotten.
