Lieutenant Commander, United States Navy, retired, and an engineer. Known as Chuck.

He spent twenty years in the Navy working on high-capacity signal processors, multi-processor application software and signal processing algorithms, and twenty years afterwards developing products for distributed computing - systems engineering consulting, web-based systems built across distant sites, and an ARPA project demonstrating rapid object-oriented development.

He took a degree in chemical engineering at Grove City College and a master's in electrical engineering at the Naval Postgraduate School.

He was aboard American Airlines flight 77.

His wife Cindy, his daughter Shannon, and his mother Suzanne.
