Their life
Police Officer Joe McGarry died as the result of cancer that he developed following his assignment to the search and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site following the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks.
Officer McGarry was a United States Marine Corps Vietnam War veteran and had served with the New York City Transit Police Department and the New York City Police Department for 33 years.

He was survived by his ten children.
