Donald Douglas Baty served in the U.S. Army.
Officer Donald Baty was shot and killed at the Greyhound Bus Station as he attempted to arrest a robber. Officer Baty was in the waiting room of the bus station when a man told him he had just been robbed of $64.00 by four men and pointed one of them out. As Officer Baty made contact with the man he pulled a gun and shot him. A gun battle with the suspect resulted as a dozen officers arrived. When it was over the suspect was wounded, a bus patron was killed, and a bus station employee was seriously wounded. The suspect, 27, was hospitalized, later released, and charged with Officer Baty's murder. Officer Baty was a U.S Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

I served 1985 to 1993. You served too, before the badge - different uniform, same idea. You go where you are sent and you do not get to pick the call.
Officer Baty served with the Atlanta Police Department.
Thank you for your service to the Atlanta community, and for your service before it. Gone but never to be forgotten.
Rest easy, brother.
