Sife Perdue. Sife served during the years of the Vietnam War and the Cold War.
Officer Sife Perdue was killed in a motorcycle crash while escorting a funeral procession. He had stopped traffic at an intersection, and after the last vehicle in the procession passed, he began to pass the procession en route to the next intersection. As he began to pull away, he struck the back of a truck that had stopped for the procession. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. Officer Perdue was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran and had served with the Columbus Police Department for nine years.

I served 1985 to 1993. You served too, before the badge - different uniform, same idea. You go where you are sent and you do not get to pick the call.
Officer Perdue gave the Columbus Police Department 9 years.
Thank you for your service to the Columbus community, and for your service before it. Gone but never to be forgotten.
Rest easy, brother.
— S. Vincent Anthony, U.S. Army 1985-1993
