Patrick Boden McCready. Patrick also served in the U.S. Army. Patrick served during the years of the Vietnam War and the Cold War.
Chief of Police McCready was shot and killed when he responded to a domestic disturbance call. Chief McCready did not expect any problems because the suspect was well known to him. As he entered a darkened hallway the man opened fire with a 30-06 rifle from a prone position, striking Chief McCready in the chest. The round penetrated the front panel of Chief McCready's vest. He was able to exit the apartment, but collapsed at the bottom of the stairs. The suspect committed suicide after a lengthy standoff.
