Sheriff Abraham Vega died from complications as the result of contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty.
Sheriff Vega had served with the Lynn County Sheriff's Office for 19 years and as Sheriff for three years. He previously served with the Tahoka Police Department and the Tahoka Independent School District Police Department's first Chief of Police.

He is survived by his wife, daughter, son, two step-children, mother, father, sister, brother, and granddaughter.
