Vito Michael Valenzano served in the U.S. Navy.
Patrolman Vito Valenzano suffered a fatal heart attack shortly after responding to two separate complaints. At approximately 6:30 p.m., he had to walk four flights of stairs due to a stuck elevator during the first complaint. During a second complaint, four hours later, he had to walk five flights of stairs to answer a domestic dispute. After clearing himself of the second complaint, Patrolman Valenzano had chest pains and checked himself into Roosevelt Hospital, where he suffered a fatal heart attack in the emergency room. Patrolman Valenzano was a United States Navy veteran and had served with the New York City Police Department for five years.

I served 1985 to 1993. You served too, before the badge - different uniform, same idea. You go where you are sent and you do not get to pick the call.
Patrolman Valenzano gave the New York City Police Department 5 years.
Thank you for your service to the New York community, and for your service before it. Gone but never to be forgotten.
Rest easy, brother.
— S. Vincent Anthony, U.S. Army 1985-1993
