Gilbert N. Reyes served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Policeman Gilbert Reyes was killed when his police motorcycle was struck by a car during a chain reaction accident on Sepulveda Boulevard, just north of Sunset Boulevard. A fully loaded gravel truck struck the car after its brakes failed. The car was pushed into Policeman Reyes and his motorcycle, throwing them 30-feet. I served 1985 to 1993. You served too, before the badge - different uniform, same idea. You go where you are sent and you do not get to pick the call.
Policeman Reyes gave the Los Angeles Police Department 11 years.
Thank you for your service to the Los Angeles community, and for your service before it. Gone but never to be forgotten.
Rest easy, brother.
— S. Vincent Anthony, U.S. Army 1985-1993
