Joseph L. Rauchut.
Patrolman Joseph Rauchut succumbed to injuries he received when he was struck by a vehicle while conducting a traffic stop on the Kosciusko Bridge in Queens. While Patrolman Rauchut was standing next to the vehicle, issuing a summons, another vehicle struck his parked patrol car, forcing it into Patrolman Rauchut. He suffered head and internal injuries and passed away at the Elmhurst General Hospital. Patrolman Rauchut was a United States Army WWII veteran and had served with the New York City Police Department for two years and was assigned to Motorcycle Precinct 2, the present-day Highway 2.

I served 1985 to 1993. You served too, before the badge - different uniform, same idea. You go where you are sent and you do not get to pick the call.
Patrolman Rauchut gave the New York City Police Department 2 years.
Thank you for your service to the New York community, and for your service before it. Gone but never to be forgotten.
Rest easy, brother.
— S. Vincent Anthony, U.S. Army 1985-1993
