Group Supervisor Leslie Macarro was struck and killed by a vehicle while chasing a juvenile inmate who was attempting to escape. He and another officer had transported three juvenile prisoners to Los Angeles General Hospital for treatment. As they were leaving the hospital one of the prisoners, who was wearing full restraints, attempted to run. As Supervisor Macarro started to chase the escaping juvenile he was struck by a car driven by a hospital employee. The inmate was caught by Supervisor Macarro's partner. He was treated at the hospital but died one hour later.
