William Michael Kees served in the U.S. Navy for 1 year and 11 months. William served during the years of the Vietnam War and the Cold War.
Trooper William Kees was killed in an automobile crash during a vehicle pursuit in Lincoln Parish. He had made a traffic stop in Ouachita Parish, and as he approached the vehicle, it sped away. He pursued the vehicle for approximately 20 miles before he lost control on a curve on Route 43, between Choudrant and Calhoun, and struck a tree. The person he was pursuing turned himself a short time later. Trooper Kees was a United States Navy veteran and had served with the Louisiana State Police for three years.

I served 1985 to 1993. You served too, before the badge - different uniform, same idea. You go where you are sent and you do not get to pick the call.
Trooper Kees gave the Louisiana State Police 3 years.
Thank you for your service to the people of Louisiana, and for your service before it. Gone but never to be forgotten.
Rest easy, brother.
— S. Vincent Anthony, U.S. Army 1985-1993
