Raymond Earl Hicks Sr. served in the U.S. Army.
Officer Raymond Hicks was shot and killed by a narcotics suspect. He was shot in the chest as he and four other officers searched a home in Inglewood for drugs. The homeowner, 31, was charged with murder and possession of illegal drugs. On February 7, 1977, charges against the suspect were dismissed. The judge said the search warrant was improper. I served 1985 to 1993. You served too, before the badge - different uniform, same idea. You go where you are sent and you do not get to pick the call.
Police Officer Hicks gave the Los Angeles Police Department 12 years.
Thank you for your service to the Los Angeles community, and for your service before it. Gone but never to be forgotten.
Rest easy, brother.
— S. Vincent Anthony, U.S. Army 1985-1993
