Sublime
Sublime is an American ska punk and alternative rock band formed in Long Beach, California, in 1988. The group is famous for redefining the '90s alternative music scene by uniquely fusing punk rock, reggae, ska, hip-hop, and dub music. Just as they were on the brink of massive commercial success, Bradley Nowell died of a heroin overdose on 25 May 1996 at age 28. The remaining members subsequently dissolved the band. Two months later, their self-titled major label debut, Sublime (1996), was released posthumously. It became a multi-platinum masterpiece, spawning timeless radio hits like "What I Got", "Santeria", "Wrong Way", and "Doin' Time". In 2009, Wilson and Gaugh reunited to play the band's catalog alongside singer and guitarist Rome Ramirez under the name Sublime with Rome. Gaugh left the project a few years later, but the outfit toured extensively and released several albums before officially disbanding in late 2024 to make way for a true family reunion. Sublime officially reformed for a new generation, fronted by Bradley Nowell’s son, Jakob Nowell, on lead vocals and guitar.
