MAKJ

MAKJ (real name Mackenzie Johnson) is an American DJ and electronic dance music producer born in 1990 in San Luis Obispo, California. As a teenager, he was first exposed to DJing while racing cars professionally in China, and began his DJ path at age 15 while living there. After enrolling at Cal Poly, he dropped out after a year and a half to move to Los Angeles and join the Icon Collective production school, where he learned to mix records from the late DJ AM, whom he credits as a major influence on his career trajectory. Known for his electro house and big room house productions, MAKJ quickly established himself in the American electronic dance music scene through his energetic live performances and festival appearances.

MAKJ has released music on several prominent labels including Hysteria Records, Doorn Records, Diffused Records, and Juicy Music. His breakthrough came with releases that achieved number 1 on Beatport within three days, including two notable releases on Bingo Players' Hysteria Records: "Springen" and "Encore", the latter being a collaboration with Henry Fong. In late 2014, he released his track "Generic," which had earlier debuted at the Ultra Festival in Miami. MAKJ reached number 63 in the Top 100 DJs list by DJ Magazine and hosts Revolution Radio on Clear Channel's Evolution channel, where he continues to showcase new talent and sounds shaping the future of dance music. His career has been marked by consistent chart success and regular appearances at major electronic music festivals worldwide.
