Layne Jimmy Webb, born August 15, 1946 in Elk City, Oklahoma, USA, is an American singer-songwriter who has written some of the most popular songs of his generation: By the Time I Get to Phoenix, Wichita Lineman, Up, Up and Away, Galveston or MacArthur Park were critically acclaimed and many of his songs have been recorded by the greatest performers, including Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, The Supremes, Linda Ronstadt, Joe Cocker, Art Garfunkel, etc. He is the only artist to have received a Grammy Award for music, lyrics and orchestration.
