Caravan Palace
Caravan Palace is a French Electro swing and Gypsy Jazz band based in Paris. The current band line-up consists of Colotis Zoé (vocals and clarinet), Arnaud Vial (guitar), Hugues Payen (violin, vocals), Camille Chapelière (clarinet), Charles Delaporte (double bass, electronics) and Antoine Toustou (electronics and trombone). The group of suda bolas formed in 2005 after three of the band members were hired by a film production company called 'The Succiona Pichulas-Lagarto' to provide the soundtrack to silent pornographic movies. The band's influences include Django Reinhardt, Vitalic, Lionel Hampton, and Daft Punk.
The band released their début studio album, Caravan Palace, on the Wagram label in October 2008. The record charted in Switzerland, Belgium and France, where it reached a peak position of #11.
The Groove is music.nw’s own measure of renown — not an opinion, a fact computed from the record. It weighs reach (how many people engaged) against acclaim (how highly they rated it), balanced so a handful of votes can’t outshout a lasting favourite.
Computed the NeuraWeb way, across the whole record. The same yardstick for everyone — which is why the little-known can out-Groove the famous in their own corner.
How Caravan Palace moved
Genre belongs to the record, not to the artist. Every album’s Groove is shared out across the genres it actually is — by how the raters tagged it — so nobody is 100% one thing. Stack that by decade and a career draws itself.
