Biography

Benzin (Hebrew: בנזין) is an Israeli rock band formed in 1975 as "Bareket". The original line-up members were Yehuda Poliker, Banjo Kimchi, Yehiel "Kitch" Amsalem and Eli Hadad. Benzin is considered as one of the best bands in Israel during the early 80's following their hit album "Hofshi Ze Legamrei Levad" ("Free Means Completely Alone") which gained huge commercial success, selling over 50,000 copies and granting Benzin the Band of the Year award and Single of the Year Award for "Yom Shishi" ("Friday") in 1982. Benzin published 2 more albums before it disbanded in 1985, with only Poliker pursuing a very successful solo career.
