israeli rock artist's Berry Sakharof's beginning as a musician was at a 70's progressive rock band named "Halom Kosmi", but it wasn't until much later in the 90's when he recieved critical acclaim. During the 80's he played guitar and had a major creative role in the highly regarded Minimal Compact, which played a major part in the european new-wave scene and in S.O.B, which preceded it. In 1988, after Minimal Compact's demise, he came back to Israel and, along with his long-time friend Rami Fortis (who spent the 80's in various Israeli underground punk outfits and eventually in Minimal Compact) recorded the albums "Lehitraot Bechalomotai" and the ground breaking album "Sipurim Mehakufsa", which is regarded as the precursor of 90's era Israeli rock. The album, originally meant as a single affair, ended up being a huge success. Sakharof was now pretty much known to fans as "Fortis's guitarist". Eventually, the duo began going by the name Fortisakharof (instead of just "Fortis"), and under that credit came the successful "1900?" and "Kshehagitara Menaseret Et Halayla" (a live album). In 1992 the duo broke-up in order to persue solo careers and Sakharof went on to release his debut, "Hakol Oh klum", followed by "Simanim Shel Hulsha" (which is considered by many to be one of the best Israeli rock records) and "Ham Al Hayare'ach", but it wasn't until "Negiot", which contained a catchy mix of ethnic-inspired-electro-enhanced rock songs, when he got critical media attention and became immensly popular in Israel. This allowed Sakharof to persue his artistic desires in any direction he chose, leading to the quality albums "Ha'aher" and "11A" which were, each in it's own style, quite far from the style established in "Negiot" and less catchy. Sakharof's career is full of not only solo albums, but many production jobs and collaborations with different artists in many different genres. In 2006 he was busy performing shows with his old friend Rami Fortis, supporting their newly released album "Al Hamishmeret". These days he's performing with his "11'A"s partner Rea Mochiach in a smashing show named "Beyeshiva" - an acoustic new performance of his all time hits.
