Biography

The Accentus Chamber Choir is a French vocal ensemble, founded by Laurence Equilbey in 1991, specializing in the interpretation of a cappella vocal music, oratorio and the creation of contemporary vocal music. Created in 1991, the ensemble receives the support of the France Telecom Foundation in 1993. Oriented on contemporary creations, the training works from 1996 with the chef Eric Ericson and obtains a residency at the Opéra de Rouen Normandie since 1998. After the world premieres of Pascal Dusapin's Granum sinapis (1998) and Dona eis (1999) and Luciano Berio's French release of Outis (1999), Accentus performs a series of concerts in 2000 with the Ensemble intercontemporain directed by Pierre Boulez, notably a long tour in the United States. The ensemble, founded by Laurence Equilbey, is composed of 32 singers, now entirely professional. He is dedicated to the interpretation of vocal music from the eighteenth century to contemporary creation. The choir also performs with great symphony orchestras under the direction of Pierre Boulez, Jonathan Nott, Christoph Eschenbach and with the Orchester de Paris, the Ensemble intercontemporain, and the Orchester de l'Opéra de Rouen. He also participates in lyric productions.
