Lisa M. Gelman

Attorney — Elder Law

Lisa Gelman concentrates her practice in elder law: estate planning, guardianships, and protection planning for vulnerable adults. She helps families navigate the legal mechanisms that safeguard incapacitated loved ones, prepare for incapacity before it occurs, and respond when exploitation or neglect comes to light.

She earned her bachelor's in criminology and law from the University of Florida and her juris doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law in 1998. Her career began at the Guardianship Program of Dade County, Inc., where she handled complex guardianship cases and built the foundation of her elder-law practice.

Lisa is recognized for her extensive pro bono work — including the Lee County Bar Association's Pro Bono Superstar Award in 2024 — and serves on Florida Bar committees for special needs trusts and guardianship. During the COVID-19 pandemic she prevailed in one of Florida's first virtual guardianship trials conducted entirely via Zoom.
