Incident

Angela Joy Nieto was born on May 24, 1977. She served in the United States Army as a Motor Transport Operator (MOS 88M). In 2019 she joined the Pensacola Police Department as a cadet, and rose to patrol officer and then detective. As a patrol officer she met people and families in crisis with patience and a steady presence; as a detective she stood beside victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, through the worst days of their lives. She was the mother of two children. Detective Nieto died on October 14, 2026, at the age of 49, when the motorcycle on which she was riding as a passenger crashed on the Barrancas Avenue Bridge over Bayou Chico in Pensacola. She was off duty.
