Biography

Twenty-one years a Navy SEAL, retiring as a senior chief petty officer in 2010. He grew up south of Portland and finished at Oregon City High School in 1989.

He was awarded the Bronze Star with combat V for Iraq in 2005 and 2006, having led twelve direct action raids and ten reconnaissance missions in Al Anbar that took thirty-four insurgents. He served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, and in the Middle East and Central America.

He was also a registered nurse and a certified paramedic, and served in that work at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego.

After retiring he joined the Central Intelligence Agency's Global Response Staff and from 2010 protected American diplomats from Central America to the Middle East. For a year he owned a bar in Imperial Beach called The Salty Frog.

On the night of the eleventh he was among the men who drove from the annex to the compound and brought the survivors out. He was on the annex roof with a machine gun from the time the attack began until a mortar round found it at about a quarter past five the next morning.

He is buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego.
