Add The New York Post on Google A pilot unintentionally filmed the horrific moment a paraglider plummeted to his death in Brazil.
The pilot was filming the views in São Paulo on Wednesday when his footage caught Danilo José de Lima, 44, smashing into trees, sending him plummeting to his death, Brazilian outlet Globo reported.
Danilo, who had a passion for flying and adventure sports, was pronounced dead at the scene, around 150 feet from the flight track, after rescue teams initially struggled to find his body.
Danilo had posted an ominous final post shortly before what would be his final adventure.
“Death is certain, life is not. Make it count.,” he wrote.
Officials at the Ilha do Ar Club – the site of the accident – paid tribute to the adventurer, saying he “left doing what he loved most: flying.
“And that was exactly how he lived: with freedom, intensity, a smile on his face and a light heart.
“At Ilha do Ar, we shared unique moments of friendship, laughter, adventures and that peace only free flight can provide. He was positive, joyful, a companion and passionate about the sport.”
The tragedy happened on the eve of this year’s São Paulo paragliding championship. The first day of competition was abandoned out of respect, before it resumed Friday.
