What Happened
Firefighter of the Fire Department of the City of New York, who died of an illness from the rescue and recovery at the World Trade Center. The department added the name to its World Trade Center Memorial Wall at the ceremony of 14 September 2021. He died on 16 January 2021, aged 53.
Biography
Ronald P. Stortz of Freeport, New York, died on January 16, 2021, due to rescue efforts at the Twin Towers. He retired from the Fire Department of New York after serving as a firefighter with Ladder 107 and Engine 225, Battalion 39. He was also a member of Truck Co #1 with the Freeport Fire Department. He was the beloved husband of Patricia, loving father of Ryan and Eric, dear brother of Alex (Tania), Eleanor Dowd, and Elizabeth Sibley, fond uncle of four nieces and six nephews, and best friend of Raymond Rothfritz.
