What Happened
Firefighter of the Fire Department of the City of New York, who died of an illness from the rescue and recovery at the World Trade Center. Died on 30 July 2017, at the age of 60. The rank, the date and the age are from the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Remembrance Book. The Fire Department has not published a release naming this member among the additions to its World Trade Center Memorial Wall, so no inscription is claimed here.
Biography
Firefighter John B. O’Brien, 60, of the Fire Department City of New York - Engine 329, died on July 30, 2017, from illness related to response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Originally from the Bronx, he was a resident of Rockaway, Queens, for 44 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Eileen O’Brien (nee Claire); his children, Claire O’Brien and John O’Brien (Kathleen); brothers, Thomas O’Brien and James O’Brien; sister, Mary O’Sullivan; grandchildren, Matthew, Brayden, Riley, and Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews.
