What Happened
Firefighter of the Fire Department of the City of New York, who died of an illness from the rescue and recovery at the World Trade Center. The department added the name to its World Trade Center Memorial Wall at the ceremony of 04 September 2024. He died on 28 January 2024, aged 78.
Biography
Firefighter Harold J. Johnston, 78, of the Fire Department City of New York - Engine 36, died on January 28, 2024, from illness related to response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Firefighter Johnston served with the Fire Department of New York for 29 years. He was also an Army veteran. Before and during his fire service career, he worked as a plumber. He is survived by his wife, Lois; his children, Michael, Amy, and Suzanne; and extended family and friends.
