Frank Gasparino

What Happened

Firefighter of the Fire Department of the City of New York, who died of an illness from the rescue and recovery at the World Trade Center. The department added the name to its World Trade Center Memorial Wall at the ceremony of 14 September 2022. He died on 19 January 2022, aged 62.

Biography

Frank Joseph Gasparino, 62, passed away unexpectedly from this life into eternal life on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. Frank was born in Brooklyn, New York, on October 21, 1959. Frank graduated from Fort Hamilton High School in 1976. After high school, Frank briefly attended college to pursue an engineering degree; however, it was then that he realized his true calling was to become a firefighter. At the young age of 20, he joined the New York City Fire Department. Frank was a proud firefighter for 22 years and enjoyed his days and nights at the firehouse. It was at Engine 202, and later Engine 234, where he made lifelong friends who turned into family. Frank was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Frank met his wife, Nancy, in 1985 on a blind date. Frank and Nancy got engaged soon after their first date in November of 1985. They were married on June 20, 1986, at St. Mary Mother of Jesus in Brooklyn. Frank loved his wife, Nancy, very much and was always by her side, through the good days and the bad days. Frank was a very proud father to his four children, James, Anna, Sarah, and Allison. He was the best “Pop” to his three grandchildren, Madison, Jaxson, and Reese. Frank loved running and completed many full marathons. He spent many days running to the firehouse, or you could spot him running down on Shore Road. Another great passion of Frank’s was annual trips to Saratoga with Nancy and their great friends. Frank also enjoyed fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family. He was a simple man with the biggest heart and would do anything for anyone.
