What Happened
Michael J. Crawford joined the Wilkes-Barre City Fire Department in 2000 and served the city for 25 years as a firefighter and EMT, holding several positions and finishing as a fire investigator. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer on the day he retired, in July, and died at his home in Hunlock Creek on 28 April 2026, aged 53, days after attending his son's graduation.
Survivors
Predeceased by his parents, Paul and Marguerite Crawford, and his brother PJ Crawford. Survived by his wife, Jessica Crawford; his children Michael Hayden, Cassidy, Dashawnna, Kaelyn, Tucker, Cooper, Hartley, Harper, Jemma, Tessa, Jasper and Ruby; his sister Molly Richardson (Robert); his sister-in-law Heather Crawford; a nephew; and his firehouse family.
Biography
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he graduated from Bishop Hoban High School and owned and operated J and J Tent Rentals.
