Incident
Deputy Myles was shot and killed after warning patrons of a dance hall to quiet down. As he and his companion left they were fired upon and struck by a shotgun blast. Deputy Myles was killed at the scene and his companion died the following day. Two men were arrested and taken to the Greenbrier County Jail. Several days later a mob of 60 citizens removed them from the jail and lynched them on a public street.
