Incident
Deputy Sheriff Michael McNabb was killed when a drunk driver struck his patrol car head-on while he was patrolling State Route 14 at 2:30 am. The collision caused Deputy McNabb's patrol car to burst into flames. The impaired driver, who had an alcohol level of .15, was seriously injured but recovered. He was convicted of vehicular homicide. Deputy McNabb had served with the Klickitat County Sheriff's Office for four years. He was survived by his parents and sister. On April 17th, 2016, a six-mile section of WA State Route 14, between Lyle and Murdock, was dedicated as the Deputy Michael J McNabb Memorial Highway.
