Incident
Trooper Dennis Lund was shot and killed during a high-speed pursuit on I-70. He was shot in the face as he attempted to pass the suspect to warn cars in front of the chase. Both suspects were immediately taken into custody. One suspect was a juvenile, charged as an adult, and found guilty of aggravated murder. The second subject was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole. Both have been paroled. Trooper Lund had served with the Utah Highway Patrol for 7 years. He was survived by his wife and two children. His brother also served with the Utah Highway Patrol.
