Incident
Detective Pete Corrales was shot and killed after rushing to the scene of an argument after hearing a gunshot on Congress Avenue. He was in a barber shop when he heard the shot in the restaurant next door. A man had just murdered his girlfriend during an argument. As Detective Corrales ran into the business he confronted the man and was shot. Despite being wounded, he returned fire and killed the subject. Detective Corrales succumbed to his wounds later in the day. Detective Corrales had served with the Houston Police Department for four years.

He was survived by nine children.
