Incident
Patrolman Antonio Guzman was shot and killed near the intersection of Telephone Road and Drouet Street. He and his partner stopped a pickup truck for driving with no tail lights. While searching the truck, a box of ammunition was found, and the patrolmen asked the driver to exit the vehicle. When the officers tried to search the driver, the driver pulled out a .25 caliber handgun and shot Patrolman Guzman in the chest. He and his partner were able to return fire, striking the suspect four times and critically wounding him. He died a few months later. Patrolman Guzman was a United States Army Vietnam War veteran and had served with the Houston Police Department for two years.

I served 1985 to 1993. You served too, before the badge - different uniform, same idea. You go where you are sent and you do not get to pick the call.
Patrolman Guzman gave the Houston Police Department 2 years.
Thank you for your service to the Houston community, and for your service before it. Gone but never to be forgotten.
Rest easy, brother.
