Incident

Patrolman Milton Brooks was killed in an automobile crash while pursuing a speeding vehicle at 2:00 a.m. Patrolman Brooks attempted to stop a speeding vehicle on Interstate Highway 80. When the driver would not stop, a chase ensued. Patrolman Brooks called for backup as he pursued the car through Arcadia Park and Grand Prairie, traveling at speeds up to 100 mph. While navigating the curve on Fish Creek Road, Patrolman Brooks hit a water-filled pothole and lost control of his patrol car. He skidded on the curve and crashed into the guardrail. The guardrail crashed through his windshield, striking him before the vehicle overturned. The driver and his companion were arrested an hour later and admitted to drinking and fleeing the police. He was charged with murder without malice but was 'no billed' a few months later. A year later, he was involved in another police pursuit. In 1958, he was paralyzed in a car crash after speeding in a stolen car. He had served with the been with the Texas Department of Public Safety - Texas Highway Patrol for seven years and was stationed in Grand Prairie.

Survivors

He was survived by his wife, daughter, and mother.
