Incident

Deputy Sheriff Larry Kolb was shot and killed when he was ambushed after responding to a shots fired call in the Shady Rest Mobile Home Park near Boerne.

Other officers who then arrived on the scene found the suspect hiding under a trailer. The suspect fired at them as well but was killed when the officers returned fire.

Deputy Kolb had served with the Kendall County Sheriff's Office for three years. He had previously served in law enforcement since 1987 and had previously served with the Lago Vista Police Department and Austin Independent School District Police Department.

Survivors

He is survived by his wife and two young sons.
