Incident
Sergeant Robert Robinson was shot and killed as he was writing a traffic citation to a man he had stopped who had a grudge against him . As he was writing out the citation the man jumped out of his car and shot him in the head with a sawed-off shotgun. Over a few years Sergeant Robinson had charged him with several traffic violations and the suspect had threatened to kill him. The shooter, 33, fled but was arrested a short time later and sentenced to 99 years. He was later paroled but the date is unknown. Sergeant Robinson had served with the Corsicana Police Department for 4 years. He was survived by his wife, his brother and sister, his mother, his father, Chief George Robinson of the Corsicana Police Department, and a brother who was a Texas State Trooper. On February 11, 1971, his father was killed in the line of duty while serving as a Deputy Sheriff with the Johnson County, Texas Sheriff's Office.
