Sergeant Charles Long was struck and killed by freight cars while inspecting cargo shipments in the rail yards in Baltimore, Maryland.

Sergeant Long had served with the Western Maryland Railway Police Department for 23 years.

Sgt. Long, On today, the 50th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice as a Law Enforcement Officer. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
