Incident
Agent Norberto Ortiz-Ocasio was shot and killed in Cayey, Puerto Rico, during a traffic stop of a vehicle that had just been involved in a bank robbery in a neighboring town. He and his partner had stopped the vehicle on Highway 184 in the Guavate neighborhood. When the approached the vehicle a second time to question the driver further the man suddenly shot Agent Ortiz-Ocasio and his partner. All four suspects in the van fled but were eventually apprehended and subsequently convicted of murder and bank robbery. One was sentenced to 29 years in prison and the second was sentenced to life.

Agent Ortiz-Ocasio is survived by his wife and three children.
