Incident
Police Officer Emilio Quinones-Santana was shot and killed while trying to stop a theft on Highway 3 in Carolina. An off-duty officer had parked his car outside of a phone booth and left his keys and gun in it. Officer Quinones-Santana and his partner located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit along PR-3. The suspect opened fire during the pursuit, striking Officer Quinones-Santa. The man was arrested after a successful PIT maneuver was conducted. The man was charged with murder.
