Incident
Policeman Ismael Garcia was shot and killed en route to a Police Music-Band rehearsal. On his way to the location he made a stop at a shopping plaza to make a call to verify the time and place for rehearsal. As he approached a phone booth, a suspect armed with .357 caliber handgun fired four shots at close-range into his back and one fatal shot in the upper-left side forehead. The subject was apprehended and sentenced to life in prison. Policeman Garcia had served with the Puerto Rico Police Department for six years.
