Incident

Constable Samuel Norman succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained the previous day while attempting to serve an arrest warrant on a man wanted for assaulting a woman in Tarentum Borough.

The subject purchased a pistol after learning that a warrant had been issued for him. As he attempted to take him into custody, the man pulled out the pistol and shot him once in the jaw and once in the head. Constable Norman was taken to his residence, where he succumbed to his wounds the very next morning.

The man fled the scene after the shooting.
