Incident

Chief of Police Louis Vandever was killed when his motorcycle was struck head-on as he pursued a vehicle that had just fled after striking a young girl and critically injuring her.

Chief Vandever was attempting to catch the subject on the Frederickstown-Brownsville Road. As he passed a vehicle he collided with an oncoming car head-on.

Chief, rest in peace always knowing that your service and sacrifice will never, ever be forgotten by your law enforcement brethren and always watch over your great grandson as he continues on with his tour of duty. To your great grandson Trooper Courson, stay safe and stay well always, especially in this very anti-police environment that seems to be ever so popular.

Detective Cpl/3 Steven Rizzo Delaware State Police (Retired) August 21st, 2020
