Ernest L. Lang, Jr.
Incident
Corporal Ernest Lang was shot and killed when he intervened in an armed robbery at a bar at 2213 West 3rd Street in Chester City, Pennsylvania. Two suspects entered the bar and threatened the customers and employees at gunpoint with sawed-off shotguns. Corporal Lang intervened in the robbery and in the ensuing shootout was fatally wounded. He managed to fire all six rounds from his revolver as the suspect shot him. A few hours later his killer went to a local hospital. Five of his six shots had hit the suspect and he was admitted in serious condition. He was later convicted of second-degree murder. The other suspect was convicted of armed robbery. Corporal Lang had served with the Delaware County Courthouse and Park Police Department for three years.

He was survived by his wife and six children.
