Incident
Deputy Fish Warden Allan Woolf suffered a fatal attack in Lower Makefield Township after climbing into a treestand used for spotting illegal fishing in the Delaware River.
His son reported him missing at 11:00 pm after he failed to return home. Over 200 people searched throughout the night until his body was found dangling from the tree, near the intersection of River Road and E Ferry Road, at 8:40 am the following morning. His foot had become caught in the branches and he was found hanging upside down. It was determined that he had suffered a heart attack but the coroner could not determine if it had occurred before falling from the tree stand.
Warden Woolf was survived by his wife, two sons, two grandchildren, and eight siblings.
