Incident

Police Officer Dominik Mysiewicz was shot and killed by a man who came up behind him and shot him in the head with a .45-caliber handgun at 9th and Wood streets. Two civilians grabbed the gunman and held him for other officers. The 20-year-old man was committed at a state hospital for the criminally insane and died there on April 30, 1922. Officer Mysiewicz is buried in Mt. Carmel, Pennsylvania.
