Incident

Trooper Albert Izzo was shot and killed while serving a narcotics search warrant on a home in New Castle, Pennsylvania. During the raid there was an exchange of gunfire and Trooper Izzo was mortally wounded. Two suspects were charged with murder and criminal homicide and two others were charged with possession of a controlled substance. The 28-year-old shooter was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison on January 19, 1982. He was denied a new trial in 2008. Trooper Izzo was a U.S Marine Corps veteran and had served with the Pennsylvania State Police for almost eight years.
