Incident
Officer Fred Counts died as a result of injuries sustained in an accident when his patrol car collided with a fire truck at North East 10th Street and North Durland Avenue. Both units were responding to a fire. Another officer and a fireman were critically injured but survived their injuries. Officer Counts had served with the Oklahoma City Police Department for two years.

He was survived by his wife.
